- By TT News
- June 05, 2024
Michelin has launched the X Works D pre-mould retread, the latest addition to its on-road and off-road retread line from Michelin Retread Technologies. Designed as the next generation of retreads, the X Works D pre-mould promises exceptional wear performance, toughness, and traction for demanding mixed-use applications.
Built to Last
The X Works D pre-mould retread complements the existing Michelin X Works D new tyre, offering fleets a more sustainable and cost-effective option. This retread boasts exceptional traction, both when new and as it wears down.
Michelin has incorporated several features to enhance the X Works D pre- mould’s durability:
- Stone ejectors and unique siping: These features help minimise stone retention, a common cause of tyre damage in mixed-use environments.
- Improved wear mileage: The X Works D pre-mould is designed to deliver extended service life, reducing replacement frequency and overall operating costs.
- Directional tread: This design provides superior stability and traction across various surfaces, even as the tread wears.
Optimum Performance for Fleets
The X Works D pre-mould retread’s unique tread design offers a perfect balance of stability and traction. This ensures drivers maintain control of their vehicles on various terrains, even as the tyre ages.
“The Michelin X Works D retread is designed specifically for the construction, energy, concrete, and logging industries,” said Pierluigi Cumo, Vice President of B2B Marketing for Michelin North America, Inc. “These vehicles operate in aggressive and mixed-use environments, driving off the pavement at least ten per cent of the time on a daily basis and subjecting tyres to any number of harsh conditions.”
“The innovative Michelin X Works D pre-mould retread delivers outstanding traction, durability, and wear resistance for on- and off-road fleets, reflecting our dedication to sustainability now and into the future,” said Cumo. “Michelin believes that finding a harmonious balance between social, economic, and environmental issues is critical to safeguarding the planet’s future.”
Availability
The Michelin X Works D pre-mould retread is now available in the United States and Canada. It comes in six sizes: 210 mm, 220 mm, 230 mm, 240 mm, 250 mm, and 270 mm. All sizes feature a tread depth of 30/32 inches.
