German luxury sports carmaker Porsche has selected three tyres from Continental as original equipment for the new Panamera. The sports sedan will now be factory-equipped with tyres from Continental: the SportContact 7 tyre for sporty driving, the all-season tyre ProContact RX for dry and wet roads, and the WinterContact TS 860 S for the colder winter months.

The SportContact 7 is a high-performance tyre for sporty driving. In numerous independent national and international tyre tests, it has been recognised to provide excellent handling characteristics and short braking distances. Three independent test juries even rated it as ‘outstanding / superior’ in 2023. It offers a wet braking distance that is eight percent shorter than its predecessor model. On dry roads, the braking distance is six percent shorter. The tyre’s service life has increased by 17 percent. Wet and dry handling and grip have also benefited from the new development.

The ultra-ultra-high performance (UUHP) tyre for the Porsche Panamera has been approved for speeds above 300 kmph, and bears an extra load ‘XL’ index for heavy-weight, demanding use.

The ProContact RX is an all-season touring tyre that focuses on grip and braking performance on dry and wet roads. The precise steering response paves the way for excellent handling. The rubber compound ensures a smooth ride and low noise level.

As a winter tyre for those raw, cold-season months, Continental offers the WinterContact TS 860 S, which is available from Porsche dealers and specialist tyre retailers. This winter tyre stands for precise handling in cold temperatures on both dry and wet roads, and offers firm traction on snowy surfaces. The WinterContact TS 860 S thereby ensures reliable braking performance and thus a high level of safety on wintry roads.

India will once again be represented at the world's most formidable rally raid as veteran racer Sanjay Takale prepares for his second attempt at the Dakar Rally in 2026. Apollo Tyres Ltd has introduced the Vredestein Comtrac 2+, a new summer tyre engineered for light commercial vehicles. Set for a European launch in January 2026, this premium model will be available in 21 sizes for rims from 15 to 17 inches, including extra-load variants for heavier demands. It builds upon its predecessor with significant advancements in durability, efficiency and overall performance, aiming to lower the total cost of ownership for fleet operators.

A key innovation is a fourth-generation polymer compound, which boosts abrasion resistance by 13 percent. This advancement extends tread life, reduces replacement frequency and minimises the release of microplastics from wear. The tyre’s construction includes a reinforced bead area and a robust carcass for enhanced stability and reliability under heavy loads, improving vehicle uptime. Safety in wet weather is addressed through a specialised silica filler and an efficient tread pattern designed to prevent aquaplaning by rapidly dispersing water.

Furthermore, the Comtrac 2+ achieves a seven percent reduction in rolling resistance, improving fuel economy for conventional vehicles and helping to extend the driving range of electric and hybrid vans. Every aspect of the tyre is crafted for maximum longevity and cost efficiency, supporting business operations with fewer interruptions. The product also meets the stringent requirements of the European Union Deforestation Regulation, aligning with contemporary environmental and sustainability standards.
